Hi.

I have a few questions that I would be grateful for any answers to.

1) Where can I find an ECU Code Reader for my Rover? Bearing in mind that my model is not EBD2 Compatiable but is a MEMS System because it was built before 2000 I cant seem to find any but they do exist.

2) Car is suddenly having a lot of trouble starting from hot or cold. Misfire also especially when cold and kangarooing.

3) The autobox rattles loudly when idling. I have been told this is very common. Anyone else know of this?

4) The car idles at 1000rpm when hot or cold, surely it should be higher when cold then drop to about 900rpm?

5) I want to buy a multimeter to test some of the cars curcuits but dont know what to do. Supposing I test say the Crank Sensor, What should the meter be set to and what should I be looking for.

Thanks in advance.

1. Dunno - not sure you will find one easily to be honest.

2. + 4. Both likely to be a faulty ECU temperature sensor. When faulty it defaults to a warm engine which will give poor cold starting and too high an idle speed when hot.

3. No idea.. Is the box fluid level ok?

5. depends on what you are testing. The crank sensor is difficult to test as it generates a small signal each time the engine revolves.
