Re: Rover 216 Coupe lazy throttle response.

Many thanks all for your replies, it's hugely appreciated. New plugs and leads were fitted recently so that should be that ruled out. I'm going to try something new that I came across this afternoon whilst talking to my garage. We're going to check the breather pipe and injectors but we're also goin...

Re: Rover 216 Coupe lazy throttle response.

Agreed, but it sorted the emissions out and does away with having to have a new cat fitted every year, not at my expense I hasten to add. :cool Had a look at my Haynes manual last night and it's flagged up a few other reasons that could be causing it that I need to get looked at, one of which mentio...

Re: Rover 216 Coupe lazy throttle response.

Hopefully it's not the cat as that was replaced a little over a year ago with a Vauxhall Vectra one adapted to fit, as the Rover cats kept failing within twelve months leading to emissions that wouldn't pass the MoT. Hadn't thought about the breather pipe though, so that could warrant further invest...

Re: Rover 216 Coupe lazy throttle response.

Hi 1234dist, Many thanks for your quick reply. Struggles to keep up with modern traffic is a good analogy here, as the acceleration is there but it's definitely not as brisk as it once was. It's not so much a delay as a sluggish response, it feels as though there is a balloon underneath the throttle...

Rover 216 Coupe lazy throttle response.

Hi All, I have a 1998 Rover 216 Coupe with 103,000 miles on the clock. It is a K Series engine which has the triple layer gasket and steel bolts. Recently I've had a new clutch fitted, new dizzy cap, HT leads, etc, and an engine flush but I've still got the lazy throttle response problem. The best I...

Re: South West meeting

Hi Paul, Great to hear from a new member! We meet at The Highwayman in Shepton Mallett, which has a large car park outside. We aim for 12 - 12:30pm and then order lunch and have a good natter. Don't worry if there aren't any Rover's in the car park when you turn up, we don't always bring them along ...

Re: Still going?

Couldn't you sleep Di? Apologies for keeping you awake, but it was for a good reason! I won't keep you in suspenders any longer, but do you prefer a straight glass or a mug with a handle? You are absolutely spot on! :clapping Our new automotive toy is a silver 56 plate 5 door Toyota RAV 4 with a cra...

Re: Still going?

Trevor, It is fast, not as fast as my Quattro but it gets down the road in a decent hurry. However, it isn't either an Impreza or an Evo, both lovely cars though. Di, Have you been looking at your Easter present a bit early, such as a book that lists all four wheel drive cars ever made? As you say, ...
