Re: Autobox poor shift
Although I have the full service history it doesn't show if the fluid has been changed. For the last 15 years or so it was serviced by a local garage which I don't think was a Rover specialist. Is is possible to remove the bottom of the gearbox for a full fluid change? Has anyone any experience of t...

Autobox poor shift
I have owned my 94 Honda engined 216 cabriolet for a couple of months. It has full service history and 87k miles on it. I am used to Vauxhall autos from the 80s and 90s and the gear changes are always smooth. The change on the 216 is very pronounced. Fluid is clean and at the correct level. Apart fr...

Re: Horn relay
Found the horn relay, it is part of the white relay box behind the fascia that surrounds the radio. Fitting a simple switch into the purple and black wire isolates the horn either when the alarm goes off or the horn button is pressed. Putting the switch in the "on" position reverts everyth...

Horn relay
Can someone tell me where the horn relay is on a 94 cabrio? I want to try to disconnect the alarm from it. I have the centre console stripped out but can't see which one it is. Thanks for looking.

Re: Automatic transmission torque converter lock up.
Thanks very much. I am covid positive at the moment but as soon as I am clear I will get the fluid changed as well as hunting for that manual.

Alarm going off
Sorry folks, I have replaced switches, repaired wiring and the alarm sets but goes off for no reason. It's a 94 cabriolet with the Factory alarm system. I want to stop the horn from sounding. I think it's the car horn not a separate siren. What's the easiest way to turn off the horn? Presumably I ne...

Automatic transmission torque converter lock up.
I understand that my 94 216 cabriolet automatic has a lock up system on the torque converter. I am new to Rover ownership but have Cavaliers of the same period and they lock at 56mph. What speed does the lock up kick in? If it isn't kicking in is the solenoid inside or outside the box? Hopefully I w...

Re: Alarm warning light
Thanks for the information but the L shaped part that connects with the door when you shut it has broken off. Sadly this one is terminal.

Re: Alarm warning light
Thanks everyone for your help. It turned out that the driver's door switch had quit. I am in the process of finding a replacement.

Re: Alarm warning light
I have just taken a good look at the bonnet area but can see no sign of any switch. The central locking works from the fob with either of the boot or bonnet being open or closed. Could it be that the continuous light merely indicates that the central locking is in use and that it does not have the a...
