Yep, it's been done to a pretty good standard! At some point I think I'll be going back to have the driver's front wing resprayed, as well as the Tempest on that side, and the trailing edge of the driver's door needs cleaning up too as it looks as if it's been repeatedly dinged on a (garage?) wall. Also there's a dent needs pushing out of the passenger wing.
When that's been done (and the headlining) it'll be pretty much perfect.

New thermostat has cured the cold running issue, as expected. Now have a super-hot heater, and no stink of running rich when the sunroof's open.
Also since I've come back from the bodyshop the car has magically started locking itself on the key, which it wouldn't before. Nice little surprise, and very convenient too.

The car took well to Autoglym Trim and Bumper Gel!

Haven't had any updates for a while, as I've been too busy enjoying the car and taking it to various shows, where it seems to be consistently one of the tidier R8s on display (if there are any others!), and also a surprisingly well received car.

It's been running for the most part without an issue, and returning good MPGs.
Still haven't fixed the headlining, mind - it's completely collapsed now and isn't stuck on at all past the front seats.

However a hot starting issue has prevailed recently, either the ignition module has failed or the relay board has a dry joint. We shall see...

I've sanded down the scuffs on the front bumper and flatted the front end of the car off with 2000 grit, and polished it, to really quite good results.

I cleaned out the roof channels:

I'm not sure they'd ever been cleaned.

I also replaced the side repeaters:

a very easy job, and one that makes a vast improvement!

Another oddity I've noticed: despite this being a GSi, the rear brakes are drums.

Shouldn't it have all round discs?

Early GSi's certainly did, my G Reg had them. No loss without imo :D They can have some pretty weird failure modes until you get on top of em'!

Drums provide a far better secondary braking system; there is good reason most German cars employ a small drum with rear disk braking systems to act as a parking brake.
