When you fit the new gaskets, add some silicon sealant as well, 100% investigate the vents, the foam they sit in goes pourus, again a good line of sealant will cure it for another 10-15 years..

Disagree with sealant they should seal on there own the trick is not to over tighten just nip them up they are meant to have give in them .

Just to confirm, the reproduced seals have been fitted to my own car (that is left outside in all weathers) as a trial for about 6 months before we placed them for sale, so have been tested as much as we can so far. This is without any form of sealant.

Persoanlly, I'd not want to use sealant with them, they are designed from the factory not to need it, and makes a mess if you want to take the clusters out to clean, etc. Certainly dont use silicone sealant on a car without checking the type. Some work with acid curing and, this is will, in time, etch into paint, and could cause rust.... not all sealants, but you do need to be careful which you pick.

So I think that I’ll start by drying out the boot and sorting out the bumper foam seal - how do I get at this? Do I have to remove the rear bumper ? Would appreciate any tips

I used basic bathroom sealant Rich, never had any issues....
