I wonder if others have a view on the high-pressure fuel hose feeding the injectors on our R8 petrol models.
I was recently reading an article about a guy with a 1960s Humber Sceptre where a fire started in the engine due to a leak from a fuel hose. It was only a few years old but had cracked probably due to an inferior quality but possibly also because of ethanol in the petrol. I'm thinking of going over all the hoses on my old cars downstream from the fuel pump to be sure they are of recent quality manufacture. The fuel pressure on these carburettor cars is low, typically 0.15 bar or 2 psi. Still potentially causes a problem.
This got me thinking about the high-pressure hose on my 1990 214GSi. The fuel pressure in this case is about 2.5 bar, over 30 psi. A leak would be catastrophic. It's a relatively short hose linking the steel pipe from the filter to the injection assembly, SPi in my case. The part number appears to be WJH10123 but isn't available. The hose has never been replaced in 32 years and was produced long before ethanol in petrol. Is it safe??
Presumably there is a similar hose on the MPi models though may connect differently at the injection head.
Has anyone had problems with this or knows of a supplier of a modern ethanol compatible hose assembly. Looks like it could be M12 female connectors on each end.
Thanks for any advice.
Hugh

Re: High Pressure Fuel Hose on R8
I wonder if someone like Pirtek could fabricate a replacement?
It may be something you know already, but Esso Supreme E5 is actually E0 in most of the country (I think Cornwall and Scotland are the exceptions-will see if I can find the link that verifies).

Re: High Pressure Fuel Hose on R8
This is a good point, these cars are now 30 years old, and hoses suffer,
A hydraulic company like Pirtex May be able to help.
Sometimes they won’t fit new hose to old fittings due to warranty and liability issues.
Or they may not have the right hose in stock.
On V8 range rovers of similar vintage ( our normal type of customer) if we have any doubts, we replace the rubber part of the hose.
You must be sure the new hose is rated for fuel injection - go to a reputable company like Carbuildersolutions or similar ( don’t just get cheap hose from EBay - there is a lot of rubbish around.).
When we replace the hose, we use either a quality band clamp or we get a new ferrule crimped over the hose.
The same goes for hydraulic lines for power steering also,
