As the lockdown is starting to loosen up. Looking to get my Tourer back on the Road after the Clutch went in March.

Looking around at the online Clutches available, seems there are a couple of options based around the model.
Either 122HP 90KW Petrol
Or 112HP 82KW Petrol.

Having looked at my documentation I haven't any idea which mine is and not sure how to find out.
Obviously have the registration number (R876 NOJ) and VIN and Engine numbers. Is there a recommended website I can get the info from ? As obiviously no dealers Service Departments to liase with.

SAXXWYTZEWD928670

Engine # 16K4FK8. 626429. 96MY

Thanks in advance for any help as would not like to be paying the garage for local motor factors inflated prices on old Rover parts.

You have a 1.6 K series 16v MPI engine - so it's developing maximum power closest to 112HP (I'm not sure it's exactly that figure). Be careful if you're just going by BHP as the 1.8 cars develop about 115. The 1.8 VVC engines are more like 135bhp. Not sure which engine develops 122BHP.

You might be looking at adverts for parts for tourers produced between 1983 and 1995 - which had 1.6L Honda engines exclusively. But it was just one engine - the D16Z2, which developed about 110BHP. (it was only ever available with a catalytic converter on the tourer). The 122BHP figure comes from the D16A8 engine which was the twin-cam Honda D16 unit only fitted to the 216GTi TC and some cabriolets. The parts advertisers just blast the potential buyer with a broad range of specs if they have a part that is for one engine, because they see the engine manufacturer, capacity, or ranges of dates of manufacture and say "it must fit all these..." So for example, rolling every tourer into the date range 1993 to 1998 and a clutch "must fit" because they were all just "1.6" with no actual understanding of the range of completely different engines actually fitted.

I tend to see if I can find a list of part codes or "equivalent to" part codes on the adverts, and then try and knit together some certainty that it's the right one. You could also find a clutch for another type of 1.6K series car from 1995 onwards like, for example, a 1.6K series cabriolet, and this would be correct - if that particular advertiser is more explicit about the fact it fits the later date range of cars (1995 to 1998/99) and not the earlier ones (1991/1992 to 1995) which, like the tourers, had Honda engines in 1.6 form.

Many Thanks Johnny for taking the time and effort.
Will get a Clutch ordered and get it back on the road.
Just realised MOT due end of the month, so time to focus.
Cheers again
