420 GSi Touring Turbo?

Post by Bean66 »

Hi All

Newly joined and some might have seen my wanted for a cheapo SW but on a different note.

I know MGR did a 420 GSi Turbo 4dr, but did they do a turbo Tourer?

197bhp would be a real sleeper in a onld 400 Tourer body.

I'm sure if MGR didn't do one it should be pretty simple to do and i bet somone already has.

Just need to buy a Turbo 4dr and a 420 Tourer and swap the front running gear over, you'd end up with a 4dr 420 GSi and a Turbo Tourer, if only i had enough space.

Cheers Bean

No but obviously can be done but finding the parts, sub frames etc etc are hard now. Also worth remembering a car with sub 200bhp and a 15 second 1/4 mile time now days isn't going to surprise anyone these days so is it worth all the work?

There is truly nothing better IMO of a sleeper lowly aged car, particularly an estate/tourer completely surprising and beating modern stuff off the lights. 200bhp in an 1100kg car will still shift amoungst many moderns!

Honestly when i take out my dad's old volvo 960 1991, looks a bit beaten up, junk in the back, roofrack, but 24v 3liter straight 6 rwd, maybe not quick on paper these days but believe me i get the better of most people by surprise! 204bhp and pretty bullet proof

There is something cool about an old retro estate with a hidden transplant.

Can do that with a standard K Turbo tho and the bits are a lot easier and cheaper to find :wink3
