Antifreeze

Hi, Im going to flush the system next week - any suggestions on the best type of Antifreeze to use? Thanks

Depends on how often you'll be changing it.

There is no difference between the OAT and the standard blue stuff in terms of its anti-freeze properties. The only difference is in the corrosion inhibitors. The blue stuff lasts 2 years, the red / pink / orange stuff lasts 4 or 5 depending on the type. Personally I use the blue.

So blue is fine to use in the K serise ?

I was told to use the OAT red one as it can cause hgf.

ill use the blue then as its easyer to get my hands on.

I wondered about HGF using blue? I think a full flush then red is the way to go - many thanks for your help!

As you don't try to mix the OAT, HOAT or conventional types you should be fine with any of them.

Doesn't matter what the colour is, it'll not make it any more/less prone to HGF.

Both are ethylene glycol, just the Red/Pink/Orange stuff has different additives to prevent corrosion.

I used blue in our old 1.4 for 60k miles without issue.
