Really loosing my rag with the car now especially as my dad was given a much nicer 40k '95 214 SLi for nothing today!,all that needs is a battery
Holding revs?
Holding revs?
More hassle with my '94 214 SLi,after curing the missfire and poor running i've now got a new problem when you rev it and lift off it takes a few seconds for the revs to drop, will hold for about 2 seconds at 1800rpm then drop to 1300 then drop to tickover at around 900,also when reving the revs drop slightly initialy before picking up.On a cold start it requires a few pumps on the accelerator before starting, also a bit of help for the first 3/4 seconds otherwise it dies,i've tried disconnecting the ect sensor to see if that makes a difference and it does the car is almost impossible to start with that unpluged.

Sounds like it may be an air leak. Check all the hoses are ok and then with the engine running try spraying WD40 or similar around the joint where the inlet fits to the cylinder head. If the engine note changes when you spray then you've found the problem.
Also check the small pipe from the ECU to the inlet manifold. Check it isn't split and that it isn't blocked with crud/oil.
Also with the ignition on but engine off and cold check that the radiator fan isn't running. If it is then the coolant temperature sensor is faulty.
