200/Concerto builders?
Right. I asked on Facebook and didn’t get what I needed so ill ask where the experts are
When was the last Concerto built.
I saw someone selling a November 1994 registered Concerto on eBay saying it was one of the last 5 built. I know rovers were built for longer and in some cases for many years (99) after

My Charcoal Metalic 216SLi was first registered 31st January 1996 and has a VIN endingBD243576.
I think that I've read some where that production ended midyear 95 or am I makig that up?
Unlike Ford who added lots of goodies to their runout models, Rover seem to have done the opposite...my car has no rear speakers.....

Yeah. I think the Concertos finished earlier than the 200. And we had more spec. I have a December 1994 Concerto so might be one of the last 5 uk Cars. I’d like to know.

As far as I can find out, production of the Concerto stopped in 1994, not long after BMW acquired Rover Group.

Those were most likely unplugged and removed by the previous owner.Mr Teddy Bear wrote: ↑Fri Jun 29, 2018 9:06 pm Unlike Ford who added lots of goodies to their runout models, Rover seem to have done the opposite...my car has no rear speakers.....![]()
The paper cones do perish - they'd all disintegrated on my '93 216. The front ones still sounded okay even though the cones weren't attached to the surrounds any more (!!!) but the rear ones distorted horribly which is what you'd expect. I reckon the solution was simply to whip them out.
Any 5 1/4" aftermarket types will fit, and depending on what you spend (£30+ should do it) they will sound better than the originals ever did anyway.

Manufacturers tend to add all the "goodies' at run out stage such as elec windows and a/c but cut back on the less obvious items such as sound deadening and the quality of the carpet.

Re: 200/Concerto builders?
Yes the original seats were/are horrible and completly ruined the driving experience; they've been whipped out and a recarro bolted in it's place. That's lower and holds one in the seat through bends; whereas with the originals I was sliding across the seat and my head was stuck in the roof!
It's surprising to realise how such relatively small changes [probably a value engineered cost saving] could have such a massive effect, it's a good job this grey one isn't the first one I'd ever driven!

You may well be right Johnny, but the rear speakers in my 414 are still going strong whereas the fronts were jiggered.Johnny 216GSi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 12:00 amThose were most likely unplugged and removed by the previous owner.Mr Teddy Bear wrote: ↑Fri Jun 29, 2018 9:06 pm Unlike Ford who added lots of goodies to their runout models, Rover seem to have done the opposite...my car has no rear speakers.....![]()
