The clutch cable on the 200 seems to be self adjusting to compensate for wear, but do I need to fit a new one if a new clutch is to be fitted?
Also are QH cables any good, I brought one for a Renault 5 a few years back and it was an inch longer than the OE cable and would not disengage the clutch!
No need to replace the cable (unless it is looking suspect), as I'm pretty sure the self adjuster can be reset. (not sure how as I've not had to do one yet). QH cables are pretty good. As good as the original rover ones anyway.
The cable is creaking when I press the pedal down. It's been on the car from new and would really need replacing. Looking on Rimmers site the R8 shares the same cable with the 1.4/1.6 R3, are there any other cars with the same cable, any French ones bearing in mind the gearbox's origin?
Check/oil the pedal pivot before condeming the cable. They usually don't give any problems. Also getting one shouldn't be a problem either. I've no idea if they are used on any of the other cars but seeing how many wedges and bubbles there are around I can't imagine getting a replacement will be hard.
