216 Head gasket head ache. New gasket doesn't fit

Post by masrover »

Hi,

Newbie.

My mum's 216 GSI has blown its head gasket.

I have tried to fit a new one, but it doesn't fit!

On the back row, the holes for the dowels don't line up with holes on the block or the head - the result is that the dowels won't go through.

Have I bought the wrong one? I thought maybe I'd been sold one for a 214 in error.

The car is a 1991, 216 GSI on a "H" plate if that helps

Maybe you're sold a gasket for a Rover K-Series engine when your car has, in fact, the Honda D-Series engine, which uses a completely different gasket.

Hi Jet,

I had thought that. I did ask specifically ask for the Honda engine one!

Are they're any other tell tale differences between the two?
