How much fuel have you put in? If it is only a gallon then add another one. It takes more fuel than you think to get a good flow of fuel to the engine. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the igntion on?

Put some more fuel in it. A gallon isn't enough usually. It isn't likely to have sucked up any crud as the fuel circulates through the tank all the time anyway (i.e. there is a feed and a return line).

hi,put another £10 in car, still no joy, beginning to think pump has gone, when i put more fuel in tank there was a loud hiss when i removed cap indicating vacuum in tank, when these fuel pumps fail do they generally just stop or just supply less pressure as i still have fuel supply to filter but to me it doesnt seem enough, plugs are dry,do i have to remove tank to get access to fuel pump?thanks, redfive.

hi,got car running,if anyone else has problems here is what i did..
fully charge battery overnight...
put jump leads on from another good battery...
clamp fuel return, right hand side of inlet manifold...
lots of short bursts of cranking engine over....
finally engine spluttered into life after about 10 mins of cranking,be careful not to burn out starter.
i think my car must have a weak pump but now its running again car performs well again..
Thanks to all who helped,red.
