Oil and Alternator...

Post by dan290888 »

My oil is a little low and I want to top it up but my haynes manual went with my previous 200 to the scrap man so I dont know how much to put in? can anyone with a haynes manual handy let me know how much oil a 214 16v would take?

Also my battery light has come on which I believe indicates insufficient charge from the altrernator??? are these expensive to get replaced or is it an easy 2nd hand scrapyard DIY job?

Thanks :cool

Re the oil, it will be somewhere between half a litre and a litre to top up from the minimum to the maximum- just park it on a level surface, to up and check again on the dipstick.

For the alternator, I'd have it reconditioned by a local company if I were you, your motor factor should be able to tell you who can do it in your area.
