Blocked and dead injectors is a common problem with Rover diesels as I've heard off a few people. Seems to affect MG ZT's the most, my mate just had to pay out £1000 for the same problem. Took him ages to find out and many garage bookings.
Exactly what I said to him. He tried everything before that including putting the fuel or some sort of sensor in the freezer. Can ask for a copy of the invoice if you would like to see it, daylight robbery to me.
The engine in the 75 is completely different to the one in the 218. The 218 engine is the XUD diesel engine made by pugoet. There are lots of tuning articles written on how to up the power on the XUD so have a scan around the net for one. Also check the intercooler hoses aren't split and that the boost pressure is at the right level.
