New member with my new 416 Tourer

Post by Deev »

Hi all,

Just taken delivery of my bargain-of the-year 97 R plate 416 SLI Tourer which I originally bought as a cheap and cheerful runaround to do a few summer journeys but given it's condition and history I will probably hang onto for the forseeable future, so thought I'd sign up and say hello :)

The car is in near spotless condition (a couple of tiny rust bubbles but nothing serious), 2 previous owners, genuine 69k on the clock, amazing full documented service history with every invoice for every nut bolt and screw since day one, recent new cambelt, tensioners and water pump, recent head gasket and head skim, full set of near brand new Pirelli P6000s, recent Waxoyl - all for only 650 quid... well happy!

Only one fault I've found with it is a noisy fan blower which I've posted about in the technical section.

I'll post some pics when I get some time.

Dave.

Hiya....from a fellow Tourer owner.
Mine is a 416 SLi as well, 95 model (so has the Honda engine), full leather, ABS, DOHC engine.
Will turn over 150,000 kms on the way to work tomorrow! (Approx 94,000 miles).
Love the look and handling....only gripe is I wish it was a 2ltr as in auto form I find I sometimes wish it had more oomph!!
Anyway, welcome along!

I must admit I wish it had ABS (I thought only the 420GSi had ABS?) but it's not a huge gripe really... and it's only one more thing to break :P

And yeah - I'm bracing myself for a world of head gasket pain with the K series (it had a new gasket 10k ago so it must be due another by now :tongue )

ABS was an option-my 420 GSI Tourer doesn't have it. (1996, old shape dash.) Maybe it became standard later??
Kind Regards

I'm surprised mine doesn't have alloys though - I thought they were standard on the SLi... Saying that it has a surprisingly spotless and unkerbed set of original Rover hubcaps.
