hey guys, i have the 216 coupe.

and well, while she is very photogenic, in person she is looking a little tired. what modifications would yoou recommend to do to her.



i would like to do some engine work, atm im replacing the head gasket and cam belt.

but, i will tidy the bay up as that looking tired. i am happy with the peformance.

well.. what would you recommend?

coupes look pretty good as standard so imo and only need a few touches. clear side repeaters, colour coded rub strips and grill. a slight drop is a must. if you want to go a bit further, change the front end to early spec.

i didnt want to go too far, as i love the looks, but now you say it, those little tweeks, would make a huge differnce to the overall looks,

when the car is on the ground, there is alot of clearnace between the front wheels and the arch, i was thinking of getting some new springs, but a little dubious over the fact it is already quite low. i was thinking 30mm at most?

how low would you take it?

also, where can i get a decent peformace exaust system. preferable stainless.

my coupe was lowered about 40mm and had no clearance issues. keep an eye on ebay and the forums for an exhaust. i had a stainless system made, that way i got exactly what i wanted.

please change the wheels

as for mods the k can be modded well cams 52mmTB janspeed manifolds etc....

see i did try and look for some cam shafts, but i couldnt find any suitable.

dave, if you dont mind me asking, how much roughly was your exaust to make?

as for the wheels, they are staying for now. will change them at some point as the previos owner curbed them a bit. and they need some spacers so they fit on the register, (of which there is quite a bit of clearance) so they will get changed at some point. not too sure what to yet.

bout £300 i think for a cat back. depends how fancy a tail pipe you want.

Do you mean the spigot (the hole in the middle of the wheel) doesn't fit on the corresponding raised lip on the hub? If so then all the weight of the car is being taken on the wheel studs. They aren't designed for this so the car is potentially dangerous to drive like this. The usual method of safely getting round this is to fit 'spigot rings' to the wheels. They're available in a wide variety of sizes to fit almost any combination of hub and wheel spigot size. eBay is an excellent source of them in a range of materials from simple plastic (just acceptable) through ABS (far better) to aluminium (overkill) for a few quid a set. If you check the manual it should state the car's spigot size and you can measure the spigot hole in the wheel with a vernier caliper. With these figures to hand you can soon order a set to fit.
I did this when I changed the wheels on my Toyota from the standard 14" steelies to a set of 17" chromed alloys (very bling).
