R8 = best ever modern Rover range!
Just had a new "computer" fitted at great expense!
Any chance of a workshop manual or do I have to get the Haynes 214/414 and 216/416 Manuals and guess the rest? I have never seen a 220/420 one.
Is it really a Rover anyway or just a rebadged Honda?
Had so much trouble trying to extract the spare wheel that I ended up having to sheer the bolt off!
Anybody know where I can get a rear window wiper/washer assembly from as mine's conked?
Also - any thoughts on 17 inch rims with low profile tyres? Looks a better fit for the wheel arches.
Excellent idea for an R8 owners club. Well done!

Mine's a 1995 LHD Swiss export 420GSi tourer with power bulge. British racing green with walnut trim, grey half leather seats and 15" alloys. Most of my other cars are classic Minis!

Hi and welcome.
Haynes never did a 2.0 manual that covered the R8 just the x14 and x16 ones, so you may have to look either at the 800 or later 400 manual for details on the engine and box.
It's more Rover than Honda.
Best bet is looking in a scrapyard, although tourers aren't that common even in yards here, may find a suitable one off another make or model, failing that ebay.
17s on standard suspension don't look that good, look great when its been lowered tho

Swiss 420 T
Ah, yes! Lowered suspension would look good: street crawler style. I'm a bit too old for that but my sons do occasionally borrow it though I wouldn't want them to get themselves into trouble with the local latinos and their sportspack hondas and golfs. Maybe worth a try with some subtly-styled rims though just to fill the wheel arches a bit better as overall diameter should be roughly the same, innit?
There's supposed to be a Rover breaker/spares yard near Witney (I'm Abingdon based when in UK) I was going to try that for the wiper.
Thanks for the reply
I'll keep tabs on this forum from now on. especially the tech sections as the car's getting to that age now ......

rear wash/wipe
That would be brilliant! What I would need is the whole rear (tailgate) wiper assembly (with washer feeds through the wiper spindle - probably the design fault at the root of the problem).216GSi wrote:What do you need? There are two tourers in a breakers that I go to!!! (both R plates I think)
Mines corroded up because the washer feed pipe seems to have leaked at some stage in it's life .... it ceased to function about 2 years ago and the fuse and pump appear to be fine. To begin with it would operate if helped (by hand) so I was able to 'park' it neatly in the horizontal position.
I don't know what the year code equivalent of a (late) '95 export model would be though .... I could get you the chassis number?
The only other thing I'm missing is the end-cap off the interior grab-handle above the rear LH side door.
However - if it is possible to "retro-fit" the longitudinal roof rails (for fitting cross-bars to make a roof rack), and one of those R-reg Tourers has such a roof rack that can be removed, then I'd be interested in that too!!! Mine came without and I was told they were only available as a factory-fitted option from new.
