Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

Post by Mr Teddy Bear »

DO NOT BUY FROM RIMMERS

SEG100180 [L/H] and SEG100170 are not compatible with any XW vin number 214 [R8] fitted with 232 mm solid disks and rear drums.

They will not issue a refund either, but want me to engage with their joke of customer service.

The carrier's are equally unsuitable as well.

Dear Tim,

We are writing in relation to calipers SEG100170 and SEG100180 purchased from us against invoice I1045649-0001 (16.01.2022).

My colleague Alan has passed your details onwards to myself to further investigate. We have received your VIN number, however the electronic parts catalogue does not provide all required information.

May I ask what is the model year of the vehicle? Our listings state these calipers fit all models of Rover 200 with Solid Discs.

If you may provide us with further information, we can investigate the matter. However, we cannot accept the calipers back after such a long time has passed since your order was placed.

Many Thanks,

Emily

Those caliper's part numbers you have listed are the later 262mm solid disks - as fitted from serial number 234418.

The electronic epc's only go back to circa '92 - I dont know where the cut off is. But - it maybe on microfiche, or the Unitpart EPC (I don't have that one on me)

As for refund - Rimmers T&C's is 28 days - I think you would be lucky with any supplier for over 2 1/2 years......

If you have the carriers and calipers - one option maybe to just upgrade the brakes?

They're not rear calipers but front ones, what version of a R8 has solid 262mm front disks?

Non-ABS 214 16v and non-turbo 218D had 262mm front solid discs (and 14" wheels) fitted from their launches in 1989 and 1991.

214 8v had 232mm solid front discs (and 13" wheels) from their later launch.

Any car with 13" wheels can't have 262mm discs fitted.

I have at least one new pair of 232mm discs, caliper fists and pads sitting in the garage, looking for a new home, if anyone needs them :angel
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

Hmm well neither of mine [93/4] 214 or [95] 414 have or did! both 232 solid disks with rear drums; 14 inch steel wheels in both cases.

Are you visiting Brissle in the next couple of weeks John? :D

Nope the carriers do not fit around a R8 hub!
