Oh, this is at least 15 minutes for us. For anyone who hasn't been, it's a very good museum, lots of pre-BMC heritage. I think for us a recce of the kerbstones is needed, I don't think my 18's would take kindly to a big step...

I did ask about the access and traversing pavements as I was thinking of clawjaws vehicle, and I also have a low vehicle too.

The museum have said it is a non issue - access is via Chauntry Place, off Junction 1 of the Ring Road, then Tower Street, Cook Street, into Chauntry place.

The museum will remove the bollards prior to our arrival.

I have uploaded the entry picture from googlemaps streetview, and a pic from the front as you can see where we come in from under the blue bit.

I will keep re-iterating it but to all but remember to bring a tea tray or bit of cardboard for a drip tray. :drive1

I took a walk round the back of the Transport Museum today, as I wasn't too sure where to go myself.

The best way to get to it is to approach junction 1 of the ring road from junction 2 direction, you will be able to see the Museum and Whittle Arch from the ring road on your left, get into the far left lane as you approach the large roundabout at junction 1, then bear left into Tower Street, with the large Royal Mail sorting office on your right, then take the next left then left again onto Cook Street (you will see the rear of the Museum at this point), then take an immediate right into Chauntry Place, the bollarded entrance to the display plaza is at the bottom of this narrow road.

Hope this helps!
