Head Gasket

Post by pajart1 »

Hi All.
Car 1.6k Rover engine, 200 cabby 1997. 94k on clock never overheated to my knowelage
I know this subject has been covered many times over, But just a couple or so questions to put my mind at ease.
1) I am getting that nice white mixture only in my header tank and not in the oil filler cap :( .
2) losing a litttle water only on long runs it seems but no evedence from where :?
Does anybody think this is due to head gasket failure or poss another factor, Car runs and performes as sweet as poss (better than wife  )
IF is head gasket how long average time to change
Art.

it sounds like a head gasket failure to me. It took me about 6 hrs to change mine on the rover 400 and you will need the new head bolts aswell as the gasket dave
