Very nice Project Alex, not really my favorit but it is you car :wink3

I have searched a Tourer for a long time.
I would exactly this car that I have now.

Important features for my Tourer was:

- 2 litre Rover engine
- nightfire red
- air condition
- sun roof
- sport seats with part of leather
- draw bar

I found this car with only 55 tkm by an Opel dealer in Dresden 7 years ago. The funny side is that I live in Heidelberg to this time. As we moved to Dresden and I am gone to the Rover dealer, he said to me "I know this car!" He was the dealer that sold the Tourer in 1995. The car was home :) ok not really, then he was born in Longbridge :angel

My modifications:

- 40 mm AP-springs
- wood/leather steering wheel
- wood/alu hand break leaver and gearshift
- stainless steel exhaust deflector
- Sparco alu front strut bar
- currently 205/55 - 15" Silverstone wheels, unfortunately the 16" are very damaged
- original Rover trunkliner (I hope this is the right word, sounds like funny for me :) )
- a little bit sound system...
- ATE power discs - break discs
- mini catalysator from Walker for a better car tax code

Oh wow what a long list I´m surprised about me :clapping

Wouldn't the world be boring if we all had the same taste and drive red 420GSi Tourers? I was about to buy one like yours - even in red and with A/C. The small dent in the rear did not put me off, the same for the misfire of the engine and over-enthousiastic ABS. It was the dark interior that neither me nor my better half liked. Basically a 1.6 fits us better, as the car is used a lot on short journeys and the K-series is quite economical. So when faced with putting all the effort of converting the interior in a car that does have not the right engine spec, we did not go on with the 420 Tourer.

Alexander,

You have absolutly right with your comments. But it´s not the engine or the colour what I don´t like. It is the "old style" For my opinion it looks to "Honda-like" :wink3

Nevertheless have fun with your rare Tourer :)

Nice. The last bit is something my Tourer will need eventually. Sometimes there is a cloud of blue smoke after starting it up. But that's the only time it seems to loose any fluids.

Yeah, it's nice to have a car where the only fluid needed between services is washer fluid. Despite drive fast at times, the oil level only drops to 1/2 between min and max over 12-15k kms. And when released the oil has hardly darkened - a wonderful engine - I hope it will last long. Currently we're just at 230k kms ;).

With the rebuild T-series your car should be good for another 300 or 400 thousend kms :)

These years will be gone faster than you think. When I bought my first Maxi it was 9 years old - and now it's historic... Somehow our Tourer still feels like a new car to me at just over 12 years now.
