Rover 416Si Juddering...

Post by Clawjaw »

Erm, Ok so my friend bought a 416 on a N plate and every now and then the car will judder very highly and it will cut out. When its restarted if its put into 3rd it will just lose the power via the juddering again... But keeping in 1st and 2nd at high revs seems to get him home. We have changed the Dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs, HT leads, fuel filter, oil and oil filter when he first got the car.

The problem started when he went through a big puddle a few days ago and the car lost all power and stalled. Today not 30 mins ago this happened again and when we popped the hood we could here what sounded like sparks or clicks from the rear of the engine.

Has anyone got any idea as when this might be please?

i see you changed the dizzy cap when you got the car, have you taken it off to see if any water in it after going through the puddle? check that if not done already

Ye we looked at everything and found the prob.............. You wont belive what it was. Remember i said about the sparking or clicking noise? Well it was sparking and it was coming from the main HT lead. We had been given the wrong leads and the car was all over the place because of it. We put the originals back on and took the old ones back, complained, got £50 credit and the correct leads :D
