124 miles per tank wtf
Any ideas why I can only get 124 miles out of a full tank no leaks anywhere and no over fueling smell from exhaust it's an expensive runner if there's nothing wrong with it I've also looked through receipts and my tur's had a fuel line clean.any knowledge would be good

Dodgy fuel gauge?
How much fuel are you adding to the tank at the pump and how many miles are you covering?

check the fuel sender unit first might just be giveing you a false reading

Re: 124 miles per tank wtf
The only accurate way of checking the true mpg is to fill the tank to the brim, drive normally until you use up at least a half tank and fill up again. Calculate the 'economy' by dividing the miles covered by the number of litres bought and then multiplying by 4.545 to convert to gallons. However this doesn't take into account that the front wheel/tyre combination might be non-standard which would give an incorrect mileage reading while also affecting fuel consumption.

Re: 124 miles per tank wtf
Sir Henry thanks for info although my motor is completely standard I fill it to the top with optimax drive steadily and still only get 124 miles think I need to check all injectors spark plugs fuel line then check ecu cause I can't check over fueling without rolling road proper anoyin but I think that's the best thing cause I'm getting a full decat system and looking into cams also do u know anyone who's tuned a turbo before could do with some ideas on mods nice one
Re: 124 miles per tank wtf
Hi ,
I know it sounds like a stupid idea, but is the tank the correct size, or do you have something floating in the tank that settles down to the feed to block it.
Would the turbo be on all the time or does it kick in very early in the rev range? perhaps engine management would be worth checking as it would highlight any inefficient fuelling scenarios.
Check the tank for any penetrations that would cause fuel loss and fuel sender as maybe a seal problem, apart from that I wouldn't have a clue ,
but it does sound rather odd, hope you'l find why.

Re: 124 miles per tank wtf
i perhaps get around 90 miles out of 20 quid in my 620 turbo but thats driving quite steady and staying off boost as much as possible.
you cant remap the turbos so dont let any rolling road company rip you off with the promise of that. all they do is remove the boost cut (i wouldn't recommend that) and up the boost then charge you about 300 quid. you can up the boost yourself with a manual boost controller but dont go any higher than 14 psi.

Re: 124 miles per tank wtf
or another thought , try filling the tank to half capacity, and taking for a drive, that way you might find that if there's a difference, it'l be down to fuel loss above a certain point in the tank, suggesting leak in sender seal, filler neck, or other high point. You may have had someone cipher fuel in the past by getting into the tank, resulting in loss as the fuels thrown around during driving, are there any moist patch's around the tank?
