My GTi cost £450 to get through the last MOT, every penny well spent 8)
That's all it's cost me in 6 years so am well happy, as most of my cars in the past have been scrapped as a result.

I`d say Rear Bushes and Emissions - as well as the usual things.

ok are you ready.........................? Failed on, and i quote:

001 Exaust engine idle speed too high
002 Nearside windscreen wiper blade insecure
003 Nearside rear (outer sill) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
004 Offside rear (outer sill) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
005 Nearside front anti-roll bar linkage has exsessive play in a pin/bush
006 Offside front anti-roll bar linkage has exsessive play in a pin/bush
007 Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive
008 Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive
009 Exhaust emmisions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits

Ok ive been quoted around £177 to get it through. It needs welding just under the end of the side skirt. The MOTer said that instead of taking the whole skirt off it would be best to just take part of it off at the back.

You know i didnt think i would have to remove part of my body kit to get it sorted. The skirts were stuck down with some of that ultra bond stuff and screws and of course filler.

I dont know if its worth getting it through

What would you lot do?

EDIT: He said that he didnt want to fail me on the 'high idle' but it was this thats causing many of the other exhaust failings

I`d say that £177+ is fair enough, considering if you think how much some people have to shell out. It all depends on how much you like the car really.
