rover 25 dash into a cabby

Post by rayb67 »

heres a thought i got pondering thru my mind at the moment a later style rover 25 dash from a 2005 model the one with the round vents, would it fit in a cabby. I am sure the later style cabby shared the same dash as the rover 25 and zr . Are they interchangeable ? if so i can not see a reason why the later ones would not fit as well.
i would say I am pretty confident doing the electrics for the switches. i would properly need the air ducts as well .
any thoughts or ideas on this subject

Interesting question. I wonder how much of the electronics and instruments would be compatible or if you would need to retain the older stalks etc.

The challenge you are likely to have with the electrics is that from late 2003 onwards, many functions were routed through a Pektron 'SCU' mounted behind the glovebox/heater, the reliability of which Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat would be familiar with :laughing2

An example is the front foglamp circuit: if fitting foglamps to a car that was not originally equipped with them, the SCU has to be programmed to recognise and switch them.

The main impact on your project is likely to be the inability to 'plug and play' the 2005 dash wiring harness, but I am sure a few hours work at the k1tchen table with a soldering iron and a few Maplin shopping sessions will overcome this :wink3

If you haven't been on 'Rovertech' yet, it would be worth having a look: I wouldn't mind betting that somebody has already done this conversion.
