What would you like to know, most of the details are on the rear?

Twin pot exhausts and red line over 7K - it's a DOHC GTi alright!

Rover 416GTi (a.k.a. Rover's sporty saloon)
Honda D16A8 engine (no cat). 130bhp standard :o
0-60 in 8.5 seconds :o

This is for the manual car - the auto might be a touch lower in terms of outright performance.

Looks like its the absolute top-spec GTi - all round electric windows and leather!

Absolutely like factory new condition by the looks of it. Well done. :clapping

Not sure about that push-button analogue radio in the middle though :S If that's standard, they upped their game pretty sharpish afterwards! Look for an R652 (DC652) or higher on Ebay. You'll also have some lower-rent front speakers at least (single-cone rather than dual cone on the later models). These are easily replaced though - and you can use the original mounts too (I intend to post something on this).

Looks like it doesn't have air con. - and it won't have an alarm either, so *get something fitted* or buy a disklok. Not sure whether it has ABS (it might very well have - a dashboard light will light up during pre-ignition if it has). Also can't see whether you have the dashboard dimming control!

Wonder what the slide-switch at the bottom of the 4-way electric window panel is?

A final check. The engine should look like this (only newer...)

If it looks like this:

...you've got a 416GSi Auto, not a 416GTi Auto.

I could ask what you paid for her... but I'll probably faint in you tell me.

Isolation switch for the rear electric windows probably.

If it's a G, it could be a press car - especially as it's a high-spec. Who was the first registered owner - Rover?
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

The 416GTi was the top of the range model when the car was launched in April 1990 (late G reg). Autocar reported on a cross Europe trek in a 416GTi at launch and questioned whether it was a true comparison to the B*W 3 Series of the time. It was the first car with the twin cam Honda engine. I seem to remember the report being generally favourable but the car was criticised for its low gearing and consequent lack of refinement at high speed. It was also relatively expensive and the conclusion was that the lesser models were better value at the time.

This looks a great example. I'm glad that it has been saved. You need to get the correct "ICE" though to make it authentic. The push button job looks completely out of context.

I was lucky enough to work at a rover dealership when the r8 was launched . Rover sent each dealer 2 cars we got a flame red 216gsi+ diamond white 416gti. I still have the sales training videos. :)
