Re: Another R8 saved from the crusher
I'm the original buyer of this car.
Just to explain the situation to everyone because I don't want people thinking bad of me, I purchased this car back in March with the full intentions of fixing her up and using myself as I had always wanted an R8. After multiple problems trying to get it home we finally got it home via the RAC. Upon further inspection the headgasket had failed and as a result we replaced it with original parts from Summit Garage (MG Rover specialists), I do believe the receipt for the parts should be in the car. We replaced the gasket but we could not get the car to run properly without stalling, we replaced everything we could think of. I do believei ended up investing £300+. I sold it to someone who told me he was going to restore it at a massive loss, I sold it for £100, a few days later it's on Facebook for the same price or it was going to be scrapped. Luckily in this case it has been rescued by yourself and I'm so happy to see this is the case.
If you would like to PM me your address I'll be happy to send you all the original paperwork that came with the car. Please do keep me up to date with it too! It would be much appreciated, oh and please let me know what you did to make it run! I was pulling my hair out with it!
Kind regards,
Joe

I will try and get both the 220 and this one, I have booked the 220 in for the concourse just for the fun of itGTiJohn wrote:![]()
So glad you saved this one![]()
Is it coming to Gaydon on the 5th?
We could do a display of "how many R8s can you get for a grand" - it's probably 4 or 5!

Thanks for explaining what happened - car rescues are rarely straightforward.JoeyTaffy93 wrote:I'm the original buyer of this car.

The end result is the car is with Johnny who will keep up the good work that you started to keep this car on the road. It deserves it!
I'm glad the paperwork will be reunited with the car soon too.
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

Jonny, I have a spare Gaydon pass still available if you need another
In return, you and the previous owner need to get together and write a feature on the car for the next newsletter

Re: Another R8 saved from the crusher
Will it be for sale at any point ? my uncle used to work at Rover (responsible for me finding the love for them) he's got the FDH coupe but looking to sell that and replace it with a smaller Rover, this or something similar would be ideal, these days he only goes to work, holidays in the lake district and to watch his beloved Halesowen Town FC, if you decide to do it up and sell it drop me a PM,

Indeed I do!
A great tale of a car that needed two rescues
