A day in the sun and more stuff falls off the cabbie :(

Post by martin_bmth »

We put the roof down and had a lovely trip to the beach with the dog. Mrs S was very impressed the way the airflow didnt mess her hair up.

unfortunately the rubber trim off the top of the front screen came off (double sided tape seems to have lost its sticky).

The little knuckle joint in the hood mechanism on the drivers side snappped. :( This makes it really tricky to do up the rear window as the hood sits at an angle. While faffing about getting the car watertight Ive noticed some of the tension wires in the hood are rusted/ broken and the hood is cracking quite badly where it folds every time its taken up and down. I think its just near the end of its life which is a shame as the rear window panel is really good condition but id expect its the original platic one from the factory so its done well.

To top it all off ive picked up a puncture too :(

Tomorrow Its getting the puncture fixed and maybe pop past an autoglaze place to get them to stick the trim back on :)
Checkout the wanted ads and ping me a message if you've got a spare roof knuckle joint (or where i can get one) .... or a decent replacement roof. :D

Did you mate make you a replacement knuckle rod?

If he did and it's a good 'un he might have found himself a nice little sideline !

These are one of the weak-points of this type of hood and people are always breaking them.

If he's game, put a thread in the 'for sale' section and maybe on eBay too. Within reason, he could name his price.....

They probably fit other cars too as it is a Pininfarina designed hood.
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos
