and front end damage for peanuts, not many of them about then or now,
it was just a 200 with the following spec:
1.8 non-VVC
Vented Front Brakes
Rear Disc Brakes
A funky light and dark grey set of comfy seats
Electric Windows
Front Fogs
.....and that's your lot but a nice pocket rocket for the money.
Once I got the car home I got started with getting it repaired, I got a
bonnet and bumper then proceeded to fix the front end, I threw a BRM
grille on it that I had lying around but I painted it Stone Grey as the
orange is only for a genuine BRM.
To make it match a bit better I meshed the upper and lower grilles BRM
style and I also painted the upper grille grey too, subtle but I though it
looked tidy.
I also completed the following mods, engine repairs and fitted these
service items and performance add ons:
De-Oranged the Headlights and painted the internal trims black
BRM Lower Grille
BRM Style Upper Grille
Stone Grey Front Bumper Inserts
Colour Coded Rear Boot Handle
SEAT Cupra R Lower Splitter
Stainless Back Box
Mintex Pads and Discs all round
16" Gridspoke Alloys
ZR 160 struts
ZR rear lights
ROVER 75
Dash Lights upgraded with Orange LED's to freshen it up
Blupunkt ROVER Radio
Cup Holder Mod
Piano Black Heater Panel and White Dials
MLS Gasket
52mm Throttle Body
Dizzy Cap
Rotor Arm
Leads
NGK Platinum Plugs
Magnatec Oil from a EuroCarPartsDeal
Cone Filter (....as heat soak is underrated)
Engine bay cleanup and detail
It flew through its first MOT and had a great emission readout, no
advisories and a thumbs up from the tester on how tidy the car was.
REPAIRS

Some arty-farty shots.

I took it along to one of the Merseyside Meet DYNO Days and got a very
happy result.

It was throwing out stock power of 120 at the fly and 88.8 at the wheels
so just enough to go back in time *laughs*.
Alas I needed a diesel for work so I sold it on about 5 years ago but I did
miss it as it was so nice to drive and wasn't too bad on fuel, sounded nice
too but I neede the MPG of a derv for work.
Anyway, chance had it I would bump into the car again but I was in for a
bit of a shock.

By the looks of it the car had been ragged to death, the headlights, lower
splitter, BRM grille, 75 numberplate, fog lights and other bits were missing,
no water in the bottle so it had HGF again, shame really as the car was
mint, no idea how many other owners it had gone through but its not nice
to see a car get this bad, makes me wish I had kept it.
