non working electric window

Post by jiminwatford »

hi,

The driver's side window on my R8 doesn't work.

Is there anything i can check before taking the door card off? eg fuse?

is it likely a wire has just fallen off somewhere?

i can operate the passenger window from the driver's door ok.

Thanks,
James

Edit: the motor for the window seems to be working - it makes noise when pressed, but the window doesn't move..

The window could have come off the rails. One or both of the clips which hold the window to the rail system may have broken. This happened on my dad's GTi. They are a pig to replace. If this is the case it's best to source a replacement window with the clips already on there.

You'll see what I mean, they're bonded on to the window with some really strong black resin type stuff.

Hope this helps

Marc :)

Possibly a cable for mechanism has snapped, you wont be able to tell unless you take the door card off.

If that is the case, I can write out a walk-through guide on how to do the whole job if need be.

Where abouts are you?
