What I like about your car is the innocence of it. I think the earlier grilles make for a more discrete and understated look.

I'm amazed at the cleanliness of the bay. Do you use the car for social travel only? It looks steam cleaned (hope you don't mind me saying so)!
I was scared off the turbos because of the comments my uncles made about them. They both worked at Cowley and just shook their heads when I mentioned the idea of buying one. Reading all of your posts is making me reconsider, though!

The car normally gets used once or twice a week to commute to work, and at weekends shopping. Infact I came in it today.
The engine bay normally gets cleaned about once a year, using some degreasant and water. It is nearly on 140k now too. Mine has been fairly reliable since I purchased it. It has had a replacement gearbox with steel caged bearings though. Very good fun to drive

The car looks lovely Lindsay.
The only two small things that let down the engine bay down though are the dirty expansion tank and air filter squashed near the engine.

The air filter was on it when we bought the car but I've not got anything better to replace it yet, (although the noise is nice I do confess!).

Ooh, the old chestnuts that get talked about all the time: -
Gearboxes melting....turbos failing....h/gaskets overcooked. To be fair...200bhp is too tempting to most petrolheads-"so...what WILL this motor do?" You could say the same about any car...Scoobys have a similar reputation...!
I think they were more worried about being used as a Rover helpline every other week!
I would seriously consider one now, though.
(as if I don't have enough projects!)

I'm glad you keep the red strip down the scuff panel. It's an essential part of the heritage. I've often thought about changing mine from red to something more tame, but somehow it seems to take too much away from the look.
