Cutting out engine.

Post by dale214 »

Everytime I wash my car with the engine running
the engine will cut out when water runs down the front screen and down the front scuttle.
Any idea's what its touching to cause an earth?
Thanks.

The ignition coil on the R8 214 can get wet if too much water runs down the top edge of the right wing. The coil itself is located in the bottom corner behind the headlight. a good covering of grease over the two spade connectors on top should help, also check the king lead. If its not that, check the wiring loom from the bulkhead to the fusebox & ECU

Wash it without the engine running?

Then ensure you wipe the effected areas or spray them with silicone spray.
