On a more serious note, like what's happened/happening in London there is going to be a 'Clean Air Zone' in Birmingham for June 2021. Companies are already moving out the zone (car dealerships, small businesses, transport companies etc).

Driving Southbound through the Queens tunnels/A38 in the city centre for Longbridge will cost £8.00/day. I'm sure within the next 10 years, every major city in the UK will introduce a Clean Air Zone with Manchester being next.

Come on Craig, we need an EV donor car for an R8 project, it will boost them Youtube views/subscribers

I have been into Birmingham today and they have already put the CAZ warning signs up on the Aston Expressway. Hopefully they intend to cover them up until next June. I have been watching this avidly. They originally planned an introduction of this on 1st Jan 2020. It was initially delayed because the camera equipment wasn't ready and then it was put back because of Covid. Both of my daughters are at University of Birmingham and none of my fleet are compliant, not even the 2011 Discovery. I will have to drive round the outer ring road which involves many junctions and more congestion that creates more emissions. I thought that the A38 as a trunk road through the city centre may be exempt but that would be too logical I guess.

The road signs in Birmingham have been up and down and up and down over the last 12 months.
Likewise my fleet (both of them) are not compliant,. Fortunately the route I travel to work uses the ring road which is the boundary.
All it will mean for me is that my shopping, leisure etc will be elsewhere,

I never drive into either Bristol or Bath any longer, mainly because of the parking charges, the bus fares are exorbitant as well, although fortunately I now qualify for a free bus pass.
