This is a nice update
what starts out as a few holes turns into a very nasty rash, once the sill has been cut back!
R8's were dipped in phosphate during build, which is probably why the looked after ones have lasted so well.

Another update to report.
Hope this doesn't kick off anyones anxiety!! The fabricator is now working on the passenger side of the car which was meant to be the "good side" and less time consuming














The majority of the corrosion goes half way up the length of the sill, however the front half of the sill is damaged with dents and scraps as you can see below:



I've instructed the fabricator to fit a complete new sill just like the work carried out on the drivers side so the next update will be a good one

These very interesting photographs just reinforce Murphy's Law of Rust, or in other words the rust you can't see is at least 5 x worse that what you can!

Its not finished yet, but here are some more progress pictures cutting out the rust, cleaning everything up and then the reconstruction phase.

It is bonkers, and on so many levels!
This was meant to be a 'rust free chassis' when it was chosen for the re-shell which just again shows the level of experience these people had when converting it.
