Has anyone else experienced this and managed to effect a quality repair?

The fact that it appears the peeling is also on the rubber weatherseal sugests it could have been re-sprayed in at sometime. If you carefully flat and mask off you could then spray in with a matt colour aerosol using a self-etch primer first - but you might have to do the whole window frame.
Let the paint cure for one week, then with the application of a polish, you can then equally carefully replicate the sheen of the original.

Thanks, that’s worth knowing.
I’m half hoping that the bodyshop might have a go at tackling it. A couple of months ago when I first took it in to the bodyshop shop, I do remember he suggested the best option was to replace it.
What I can’t remember is whether or not it was agreed that he would tackle it during the respray, which clearly demonstrates just how bad my memory has become!
