Cars have to be in the show by Friday evening and then cannot be removed until Sunday evening, so I appreciate it is difficult for many people to take part unless they live (or have friends with a spare bedroom!) within commuting distance of the NEC.

However, if you just want to come to the show in person, we can fix you up with a free entry ticket and I have a really scruffy grey front bumper I can bring along for you to work your magic on (it had been sat behind a shed in my garden for over 10 years: we demolished the shed a couple of months ago )

Oh I see. In that case I can't do the whole 3 days this year with leaving my car there. But will definitely be up for coming along and seeing if I can get that old bumper back to looking good and of course having a good look around. Working Saturday so sign me up for Sunday would be good.

I think that whatever way you look at it that car is the by to us all who like a decently spec' early R8 and a testament to your hard work! I would love to see the car in the flesh and hope to make it to PoL, although you don't seem to live too far from me!

She's been sent off to the car shop for two small dents to be removed. A dozen spots of rust repair and a bottom half tempest grey respray.
Will post pics up once I get her back home. Will almost be show quality then I think.

Back from shop with dents removed, bumper bracket fixed, arches done, rust removed and complete bottom half respray. Looking good me thinks.

That is looking superb and to be honest, it is exactly how to win the restoration game. Given the bargain you got buying it and the low mileage, the restoration cost (at a guess) means you're probably in profit considering the resale value, which is nice. It's a good job I have no expectations of achieving the same with mine

Thanks Johnny, I reckon you're about right, if I wanted to sell probably wouldn't be out of pocket. There are some real small scratches on bumper which are really the only blemish inside and out now. Need someone who's a dab hand at manipulating plastic to make them good.
And need to find a garage for the winter for it too.
