i do have a company that may be able to fix that but i couldn't tell you how much it would cost as my customers usually say just source another engine

So after a another few days in diesel, a block of wood and i big hammer she finally when crack and started to move :scared After removing pistons 2 and 3 which here completely rusted with all the rings stuck i took them to work and a day in the cleaner they came up like new and with a set of unstuck piston rings

Unfortunately the same wasnt to be say for cylinder bore 3 :bored After a clean up and a hone she was just to far gone to repair

As you see it wouldnt even be worth getting a over sized piston as the block has very bad corrosion which is a shame as its the original engine fitted at factory :sad

Anyway for the sake of a £15 headgasket im just putting it back together for now so i can move it about while i get a engine sorted as 3 dead R8's on drive is to much :laughing2

If it wasnt for all the corrosion around the water jacket I might have considered it but it is really bad and probably only 1/4 of the original thickness in some places

I also fitted a set of lowering springs as lets be honest no one wants a GTi that has the same ride height as a bus, nothing to much just 30mm :laughing2 .....

Well finally the GTi is finished and sailed through her first MOT since 2001 :D plan is to use her now until end of July while i sort out a few cosmetic things (painting cam cover etc etc) then i will be putting her for sale for someone else to enjoy....
