Then yours may be different. I'm referring to its position on a 1989-95 R8. I've taken some pictures but the image hosting website is under maintenance this evening. I'll put the pics up as soon as I can.

Perhaps someone with an HHR can give you further guidance for your model. Sorry, I have no idea if it's in the same place.

There is no relay in case of Rover 45 from year 2000. Power goes from battery to switch to fuses under steering wheel and to lamps.

Update for anyone facing the same problem in a Rover 45! Issue fixed. Required a new indicator/headlight switch. i.e. the stalk unit. £28 on eBay and about 20 minutes to swap around
