Spent some time today cleaning the engine bay and also the driver's side hinges to get rid of all the dirt and grease.

Hinges were awkward and are not cleaned perfectly but they are much better.

Looking at the first photo, you are clearly in need of a club mug to replace that boring white one!

I checked the spark plugs too this afternoon - they don't look like they've ever been swapped, so I've ordered some new ones.

I've gone for NGK Iridiums like I had on my 216 - pre-gapped and longer lasting. Paid £25 for a set of 4, so a bit more than standard NGKs, but worth it I think.

Car running great on the new Iridium plugs. What a difference. Amazing how much sweeter the engine sounds and how much smoother it is under acceleration.

We only ever hear the negatives with our cars most of the time. Its good to hear when things are working for a change

Booked in for cam belt and water pump tomorrrow (Gates kit), and MOT.

Going to be an expensive job but the car is a keeper.

No evidence of cambelt ever having being done - nothing in documentation nor any stickers around the car or on the engine anywhere.
