Thanks for that but I don't think the original colour was black, they are currently a very faded grey so I am looking for a product that will bring them back to something which will match the lower half of the cars bodywork, i.e Tempest Grey ??

Yeah they should be grey.

I normally left mine to their own devices on the 214 SLi, but have used bumper black on my 220 as they should be black.

There should be some products on the market for what you want. I will have a look around.

Someone used to make a bumber grey product too but I forget who it was and I've not seen it for a while. I've used tyre shine on them before as well.

A hairdryer/heat gun will bring them back to life again.

grey bumper

Post by g259fsg »

I have grey plastic bumpers on my 214 and have used Autoglym bumper cleaner/restorer. I've used it for several years and it is quite effective but you need to do it two or three times a year. Also good for the other bits of grey plastic trim. BTW, got a new set of plastic front mudflaps (grey) from Rimmers recently. List price around £20, got them for about £3.50 - going cheap.

Cheers,

Yes, I have some of that grey wax for plastic and a very good product it is too. :D
If the trim is really 'white' a couple of coats are needed.
I'll hunt out the bottle and post details.
