Iv heard grey shoe polish as well but not sure how long it will last, rub it in and buff it out

Ive used some bumper black type stuff in an areosol on my bumpers, may have to re do it every couple of weeks but its easy to do, just spray it on.

Im going to try the baby oil thing as ive used it on the polo and its worked a treat.

Hi, after many attempts to smarten up the grey bumpers to last an appreciable amount of time I got really fed up so I stripped any surface "rubbish" I had put on, polish etc. Flattened with wet and dry paper, filled any "supermarket" knocks and scratches, flattened again then primed them with 4 layers of grey primer then sprayed 4-5 thin coats of Tempest Grey matt aerosol paint. That was 2 years ago and still look great and match the lower body Tempest Grey. See pics in Winter club magazine as Lindsey articled. Ther are one or two marks now caused by Blackpool's sea gules "dive bombing" after eating remnants of Blackpool's takeaways including chilli sauce & garlic! Might do again in Spring. Its not a hard job if you take your time! Beats hands down "back to black" etc..! Good luck, David W

your best to buy some black paint for bumpers. shouldent cost too much and is a great project for you to do. trust me im a car detailier. the bumpers may be sort of a greyish coulor when the car was brought out of the showroom so you wont be able to get them black using bumper restorer if they arnt actuly meant to be black. if you use the bumper restorer , over time you might get streaks or drips that appere on your bumpers and dont look very nice which is where water has got to it.

just try painting them. best of luck

Any update ideas for sprucing up faded grey bumpers since this 2007 thread, am about to collect the red 214 on the e-bay thread on here and the bumpers are tired looking. The Autoglym bumper cleaner/restorer from the earlier poster sounds good, is it still available six years on?

I have bumper black stuff but is there a grey product out there anyone used?

I believe you can still buy the Autoglym product. From experience, it may take several treatments to bring them back to life, especially if the plastic has 'yellowed' slightly.

I also read somewhere that peanut butter does a very good job on the grey bumpers!

Depends how bad they are I would use black in a flash from turtle wax [ it's for all bumpers not just black] I've used it for years and members have seen our cars. If they are really bad peanut butter first, but keep the dogs away.

How does the peanut butter get used, I've never come across this, do you paint it on, smear it, leave it a few hours? Baby oil earlier posting sounds weird, but if it works.... The Simoniz and branded ones sound workable.

I didn't have a clue until came onto here - This is what makes this site great, it may not be the busiest forum but that is its winning formula. with tried and tested people and not just petrol heads up for jumping the lights in a hurry. Credit to everyone on here.
