It has taken me years to join but, finally, I have done it. My car is a Rover 216 Cabriolet in red. I am its second owner and have owned it for 18 years of its 19 year life. The previous owner was the Rover Company itself. It had 9000 on the clock when I got it and has now just ticked over 93000. Over the years it has been a great runner and has not given any major concerns. My wife, who has a Volvo V70 Estate, says i treat it like one of the family. It is garaged every night and does not go out if the weather is inclement. if caught out in bad weather it is dried off and polished before being given a hot Horlicks and a hug (figuratively speaking that is) and tucked up for the night.
During its last MOT my garage owner, who loves it almost as much as I do, pointed out a couple of hidden rust spots on the sills. A complete review of the body work -ie: how many chips, knocks and scratches has it acquired over the years, resulted in a complete respray just before Christmas. I am now looking for Rover and 216 badges for the rear . It did not have them originally but I feel it needs them to give it a deft touch.
Me? - I am retired (retired more years than I care to remember!) and live in North Wales having spent over 40 years working in the south of England. Back to the roots as they say. My other big interest is railway modelling in N Gauge and I have a loft kitted out with a layout under construction.
My good lady and I hope to get out and about with the 216 and to come to meetings and meet some of the people who are obviously more knowledgable than I. See you around.
Now, what's tomorrows weather forecast!
